Flournoy Elementary School serves 35 students in the rural Southwestern Tehama County town of Flournoy, California. Originally built in 1922, Flournoy Elementary School was rebuilt in 1972 with a large one-room building. A second building was added in 2002 allowing for two separate classrooms currently both staffed with a full-time credentialed teacher. The primary classroom, with Mrs. Davis teaching, currently has the Kindergarten through 4th grades. The intermediate classroom, with Mr. Burkhart teaching, currently has the 5th through 8th grades.
Students graduate from Flournoy and matriculate to Corning High School in Corning, California. The school is supported by a caring and professional group of three paraprofessionals: Mr. Friedrich, Mrs. Murphy, and Ms. Vance. The office is staffed by Mrs. Tammi Jensen as the Office Manager and Chief Business Official. Mr. Cleghorn does an incredible job as the school's custodian. Mr. Burkhart, the intermediate class teacher also serves as the school's principal and the district's superintendent. The school's after school program is managed by the Safe Education and Recreation for Rural Families (S.E.R.R.F.) program through the Tehama County Department of Education. It is staffed by Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Marian Jensen. |
